Don't know how many of you are familiar with Obama saying he will work toward fighting against stereotypes of Islam whenever they come up but I thought this was wonderful. I was astounded to later find that Americans were outraged by this. What the hell is the beef with getting people to realize that not all Muslims are violent (in fact a very small few are) and that discrimination in the workforce is unacceptable?

I think its not about discrimination as much as its about Christian churches trying to maintain absolute control.  Every opposing belief system has negative stereotypes to Christians.  The misconceptions and flat lies that they put forward are to keep their flocks in check so they don't lose anyone.  Jews are Christ killers, Atheists are devil worshipers, Scientologists are brainwashed, Muslims are barbarians and the list goes on.  The church has to maintain control some way and by fabricating and spreading negative stereotypes they attempt to drive a wedge between their opposition and themselves and thus maintain control.  Their flock doesn't seek to understand other religions because of this and they keep their business.

Churches protest and get offended and tell their patrons to be offended at the notion that the shit they have said for years is wrong.  Thats all this is ... the infallibility of the church is being brought into question and they have to stop their sheep from asking questions like ... "If pastor Miller was wrong about other religions could he be wrong about ours?"  Well thats my 2 cents anyway.

What the hell is the matter with you, man? Don't you know America is a christian nation, founded on christian beliefs, and that every REAL American is christian? Bet you're one of them bleeding hearts that think everybody should have rights and shit.

8 years of Bush obviously did a lot to help people generalise with ease. Meh, at least the US isn't as bad as Saudi Arabia. I wonder how many muslims there consider the christians in their country to be peace-loving, forthright citizens. Oh wait, there aren't any christians outside the compounds in Saudi...
